PETER NOKE

Mentor (PGC) – piano

Peter’s musical career has always been balanced between performing and teaching. On completion of his training as a pianist and organist at the RNCM he formed a piano duo partnership with Helen Krizos and became pianist in residence at St. Martin’s College, Lancaster. Peter and Helen’s duo partnership led to many recordings and broadcasts for BBC Radio 3 and to commercial recordings for Hyperion, as well as tours to Australia, New Zealand and the Czech Republic.

He joined the examiner panel at ABRSM in 1990 and became a mentor for the CTABRSM course in 1996, travelling regularly to South East Asia as a mentor in addition to working on courses in the UK. Since 2001 he has given presentations at many ABRSM conference events and seminars worldwide.

His teaching commitments have included the Junior School at the RNCM, Lancaster University, and at Sedbergh School where he is currently piano tutor and school organist. He has a wealth of experience in teaching at all age and ability levels and has mentored many performers and teachers to higher level qualifications.

He was a founding member of E-MusicMaestro in 2010. This pedagogical website specialises in online aural test training for ABRSM and Trinity practical examinations alongside sight reading publications and online advice and blogs for students, teachers and parents.

He has had a life long interest in ceramics, and continues to have good fortune in not blowing himself up whilst seeking to create new and exciting stoneware pieces in the gas kiln at the bottom of the garden!
