ARTS MANAGEMENT

Course Overview


With its vocational focus, our arts management training equips you with the skills and experience needed for a career in the creative sector. Employability is at the heart of the programme and we work with more than thirty partner organisations, as well our own unique arts centre and conservatoire environment, to offer high quality, mentored work-based learning opportunities. As well as being suitable for recent graduates, the course is also suitable for mid-career professionals wishing to upskill or move into leadership roles – via our part-time attendance and APEL (Accreditation for Prior Experiential Learning) options

  • Lectures, seminars and tutorials with a core team of experienced arts professionals including guest lectures from high profile arts professionals.

Course Structure

In order to progress through the full MA course, students normally have to pass all modules and achieve a total of 180 credits overall. Part-time study is available as well as an APEL study option for those meeting the minimum requirements.


The course is split into three distinct areas of study:

PROFESSIONAL WORK PLACEMENTS

Students undertake two professional work placements – one part time throughout the Spring term (90 hours) and one full time throughout the Summer term (180 hours). Placements provide opportunities to develop and apply skills in a mentored, professional environment. Placements can be both within the RWCMD’s arts centre venues and/or within our external partner organisations.

Entry Requirements

Normal entry requirements include a degree in any subject. The College also considers applications from people who have been working in the arts industry, usually with at least two years’ relevant experience. All applicants are expected to be able to demonstrate a good understanding of the arts management profession.


Final selection is made on the basis of an interview.


International Applicants

International applicants whose first language is not English will need to demonstrate that their English language ability meets the College’s minimum requirements. Please refer to our English Language Requirements page for details of accepted English language tests and required scores.
