The BMus (Hons) Jazz course at RWCMD is modular. Each module is weighted with a number of credits corresponding to the approximate total study time a student might be expected to devote to it. Credits are awarded for the achievement of the relevant learning outcomes, which typically require satisfactory preparation, attendance and contribution to classes, and the satisfactory completion of assessment requirements. Credits are not marks; marks are awarded according to the relevant assessment criteria.
To be eligible for a BMus (Hons) Jazz degree, awarded by the University of South Wales, students must complete 180 credits at level 4, 180 credits at level 5 and 120 credits at level 6..

Year 4 (Level 6)
In the final year, students select from a range of Principal Pathway and Professional Studies modules to complete a total of 120 credits.
The choice of Principal Pathway modules must include either the Final Recital (40 credits) or Short Recital (20 credits). Principal Pathway modules must account for at least 40 credits and may account for up to 80 credits.
